Third Man Records’ Limited Edition Version of The Stooges Debut Album Receiving Larger Release On Record Store Day

In February 2017 Third Man Records opened their first pressing plant, Third Man Pressing. To celebrate they hosted an all-day free event featuring live music and other attractions. A version of The Stooges’ debut album with an extra disc of alternate takes was pressed on-site before customers’ eyes that day for an extremely limited yellow vinyl edition. This version of The Stooges – compiled by Third Man Records’ Ben Blackwell and referred to as the Detroit Edition – will now be available at other shops for the first time come April 21st: Elektra will press 8000 copies of the 2 LP set on 180-gram vinyl in a gatefold sleeve as a Record Store Day Exclusive Release, 3250 of which are designated for independent shops stateside. The second disc features tracks never before on vinyl and previously only available on the deluxe Stooges CD box.
