The Observer – Part 1

September 1

Radiohead give an unofficial official soundtrack to an unofficial fan-made DVD (of their Prague show from August 23, 2009).  The entire DVD is available as a free download.

On July 7, 2007 at 7:07PM, the Boredoms led a performance by 77 drummers at the Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park in Brooklyn, NY.  On September 7, 2010 (almost exactly one year from recreating the spectacle in a paired down BOADRUM9, on 9/9/09 at Terminal 5 – followed four days later with a second performance at the Flaming Lips’ curated final day of All Tomorrows Parties NY ‘09), a DVD of the 7/7/07 premiere performance was released in the US (with a series of photo postcards).

Also, in somewhat similar release news, a live recording of Rhys Chatham’s “A Crimson Grail” at Lincoln Center Out of Doors festival on August 9, 2009 was released on September 14, 2010.  The piece, an immaculate work originally written with a 125 electric guitar score for the Sacre-Coeur Basilica in Paris, has been re-arranged several times for different settings over the last few years.  This version features 200 electric guitars, 16 electric basses, five conductors and one percussionist and is the sole American performance.
