And so dear friends another Black Friday Record Store Day has come and gone. This year’s release list was lead by new music from St. Vincent, The Decemberists and Umphrey’s McGee, as well as previously unreleased live vinyl from Gov’t Mule, Disco Biscuits, Green Day, The Velvet Underground and more. Other highlights include rare Hendrix tracks debuting on vinyl; David Bowie’s latest single “Sue (Or in a Season of Crime)” on 10″; a Joan Jett book with an exclusive live 7″ featuring Pat Smear; Dinosaur Jr’s J Mascis covering Mazzy Star; First Aid Kit covering Simon and Garfunkel; The Beatles’1964 UK EP Long Tall Sally on 7” vinyl; reissues of classic albums by They Might Be Giants, The Kinks and others; and Dave Matthews Band’s 1994 Recently EP on 10-inch with a rare promo.

More details on these and many other releases can be found here. Click through the following links to stream both sides of St Vincent’s 10″: “Pieta” (A side) and “Sparrow” (B side).

As per usual, The Flaming Lips had one of the day’s most anticipated items. Those not able to get their hands on a copy of Imagene Peise – Atlas Eets Christmas yesterday can order the transparent red vinyl online at store.flaminglips.com or vvinyl.com. The album will also be released on CD and digital formats on December 2nd. Pre-order at Amazon.

Additionally, The Flaming Lips are featured in Jingle Bell Rocks!, a new documentary about alternative Christmas music released on DVD yesterday. The DVD will also be available on December 9th at various outlets (ie Amazon) – as well as through most cable Video On Demand platforms, and digitally (you can also pre-order right now directly from Oscilloscope Films).
