Earlier this year The Flaming Lips, New Fumes, HOTT MT, Stardeath and White Dwarfs, Spaceface, Polica, Depth and Current, Def Rain, Peaking Lights, and Jonathan Rado from Foxygen remade The Stone Roses’ entire debut LP. Following months of delays, it will finally be available on Black Friday Record Store Day, November 29th. The recording of the album and the making of the multi-color vinyl – complete with in the studio video footage, photos and more – has already been documented here and here. Now New Fumes has shared his concert back screen projection for “I Am The Resurrection.” Although not an official music video, it is our first taste of a finished track from the album in any format. New Fumes describes it as “a quick video I did to project into the blob when I was playing this song live. Gotta give video feedback credit to Paul Baker… He’s the master at that stuff!”

Expect New Fumes to debut the cover with the new backing video this Friday in his headlining set at the benefit concert for Nevada Hill, a visual artist who has worked on many posters and T-shirts in the Texas psych scene (as well as New Fumes’ Bump and Assassination album art). Nevada – who is also a member of the bands Bludded Head, Drug Mountain and Zanzibar Znail – has cancer and no health insurance, thus the November 22nd concert at Rubber Gloves Studios in Denton, Texas. This is the second of three benefits, each in a different city.
To help raise money for Nevanda’s treatment there will be a raffle at the show with art and vinyl from Gang of Four, Butthole Surfers, Lightning Bolt, Mission of Burma, David Yow of The Jesus Lizard, Arab on Radar, Lightning Bolt, The New Year,Tim Doyle, Comedian Paul Scheer (The Leauge) and of others, as well as gift certificates to Good Records and Doc’s Records. Separate from the raffle will be a silent auction offering one of the Flaming Lips rare “Fuck You Frogs,” a painting by Andy Murray (shown right), a hand drawing from The Bird Machine and an exclusive collage by Tim DeLaughter of the Polyphonic Spree.
Also on the bill with New Fumes is Early Lines, Drug Mountain, Pinkish Black and Douche with doors opening at 8pm. Douche, which features members of Neon Indian, are reforming for this one show only. Admission is $10/$12 cover and raffle tickets are only $5. Check out the benefit’s concert poster by Zeloot below.
