Grateful Dead July 29, 1966 Trips Festival On Live Double Vinyl Out Record Store Day 2017 …Tracklist, LP Art, Details And Full Stream

Last October The Future Heart broke news of 7″ vinyl series from The Grateful Dead marking their 50th anniversary. The original plan – to begin with their rare, long out of print 1966 debut 45, “Stealin’” b/w “Don’t Ease Me In” on Black Friday 2016 – was replaced by a subscription service release model. As it stands now, on a quarterly basis over the next few years The Grateful Dead are reissuing all of their 27 singles on 7-inch colored vinyl, each limited to 10,000 copies and available only through an annual subscription service on their website. “Stealin’” b/w “Don’t Ease Me In” – originally released on the tiny Scorpio Records – was first up, shipping March 1st to subscribers. The band’s next three singles will ship to subscribers later this year (“The Golden Road” in June, “Darkstar” in September and “Dupree’s Diamond Blues” in December). Likewise every Dead LP will be re-released in the years ahead to coincide with its respective 50th anniversary (ie 1968’s Anthem of the Sun in 2018). This reissue campaign began with their 1967 self-titled debut album’s re-release earlier this year as a deluxe double CD version with the band’s set at P.N.E. Garden Auditorium, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on July 29, 1966 and four bonus tracks from the ensuing July 30th performance at the same venue on the second disc. The debut re-issue came on vinyl at the same time however in that format it did not include the live show, just the original album. Alas, the live material from the second CD of the 50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition is now getting it’s own, separate release on vinyl for Record Store Day. Pressed on 180 gram in a limited  edition of 4000 with original cover art by Canadian poster artist Bob Masse, it is surely one of the most anticipated RSD 2017 releases.

The show was mastered from the original audio recordings by GRAMMY winning sound engineer Jeffrey Norman at Mockingbird Mastering in Petaluma, CA. Being it was already digitally released as the second CD of 50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition of the debut, you can stream it now in its entirety via youtube (at the bottom of this post) or spotify.
