OKC Fest – Oklahoma’s newest music festival – is set for June 27–29th in downtown Oklahoma City. While the main stage in the old Ford parking lot features ticketed events with country stars Dierks Bentley, Merle Haggard, Lady Antebellum, and Scotty McCreery, the smaller stages offer a broader variety of local musicians for free – over 40 bands in all ranging from rock to jazz and bluegrass. The Academy of Contemporary Music at the University of Central Oklahoma (ACM@UCO) will host its own Bandshell Stage on Saturday, June 28 with ACM@UCO students and graduates performing throughout the day and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Wanda Jackson headlining that night.
“ACM@UCO is thrilled to be a part of the first-ever OKCFEST and to present the ACM@UCO Bandshell Stage,” ACM@UCO CEO (and Flaming Lips manager) Scott Booker says in a press release. “Being able to perform in the festival setting with heritage artists such as Wanda Jackson and Byron Berline is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our students. We are also glad to help out with booking local talent for the Bandshell Stage and Cox Tent to provide local cutting-edge artists with the opportunity to get involved in the festival.” ACM@UCO-affiliated acts will perform in the Cox Tent just west of The Ice House on June 27-28 – including Kaitlin Butts, Chase Kerby, Mike Hosty, Green Corn Revival, and Graham Colton.
The ACM@UCO Great Lawn times are below and the full OKC Fest schedule is here. The three-day event runs 4 p.m. through midnight Friday, noon through midnight Saturday, and noon through 10pm Sunday at the Myriad Gardens (the cross section of S. Robinson Ave. and W. Reno Ave.).
