“You can crush the flowers but you can’t stop the spring”
The Flaming Lips, “Can’t Stop the Spring” (1987)
Happy May Day! 2010 is shaping up to be another exciting year for music fans. The festival circuit continues to be a phenom, vinyl sales are way up, many ticket prices are down, web video and digital recording technologies have transformed bootlegging concerts (i.e. the HD Stardeath and White Dwarfs “Age of the Freak” clip by dincstudiosf at the bottom of this post) and, most of all, it’s the dawning of the age of the freak. With one-third of the year behind us, now’s the time to recap the start of the new decade. For the next three days, PsychExFutureHeart will be sparking conversation on the state of music… and on the fourth day (Tuesday, May 4, 2010- the release date of several highly anticipated albums and the CD of The Flaming Lips and Stardeath and White Dwarfs’ Dark Side of the Moon), we’ll recap all things Flaming Lips 2010.
